The Crown instituted small wooden crofts called Kronotorp.

Mikhail Bakhtin established a tem called Chronotope.

The Kronotorp were set up to ensure labour for maintenance and harvest of the remote forest areas of the north.

The Chronotope is described by Bakhtin as “the intrinsic connectedness of temporal and spatial relationships that are artistically expressed in literature”²

The Chronotope attracts scholars from all over the world, its used as a tool to look at and analyse literary narratives, events, worlds.
